Inline Static Mixer Pipe Mixer Static Mixing for Food Wastewater Treatment
Description
Static mixer is a device for the continuous mixing of fluid materials, without moving components. Normally the fluids to be mixed are liquid, but static mixers can also be used to mix gas streams, disperse gas into liquid or blend immiscible liquids. The energy needed for mixing comes from a loss in pressure as fluids flow through the static mixer. One design of static mixer is the plate-type mixer and another common device type consists of mixer elements contained in a cylindrical (tube) or squared housing. Mixer size can vary from about 6 mm to 6 meters diameter. Typical construction materials for static mixer components included stainless steel, polypropylene, PVDF, PVC, CPVC and polyacetal.
Work Process
A specially designed spiral mixing monomer is in the mixing tube, and the two adjacent monomers at the beginning are fixed in the pipeline in opposite direction.
The monomer itself does not rotate, and there is no rotating part in the mixer.
Instead, the kinetic energy of the water flow is used as the mixing energy.
When the fluid flows in the mixing monomer, each monomer divides the water flow into two parts. The total flow number of the mixer increases in geometric progression, which is called a paired split mixing. Due to the opposite direction of the adjacent mixing monomers, the water flow continues to generate vortices.
This kind of vortex and anti-vortex enhance the mixing efficiency, and three kinds of mixing actions occur in the mixer, thus effectively mix different liquid media instantly.
The static mixer is relative to the dynamic
mixer. The so-called "quiet" State "means that there are no moving parts in the mixer, relying on the mixing unit assembled in the tube, so that when a variety of fluids flow in the mixer, the mixing order of
the mixer is affected. The role of the element, the occurrence of shunt, confluence, rotation and other
movements, to promote each fluid to achieve
a good dispersion, a good mixing between the
fluids.

Applications
- Chemical Industry: In chemical reactions where reactants need to be thoroughly mixed, static mixers are widely used. For instance, in the production of polymers, different monomers and additives are mixed using static mixers before polymerization. This ensures a homogeneous reaction mixture, which is crucial for consistent product quality. Static mixers are also used for blending chemicals in the manufacturing of fertilizers, pesticides, and various specialty chemicals.
- Petrochemical Industry: In refineries and petrochemical plants, static mixers play an important role in processes such as blending different grades of fuels, mixing additives with crude oil or refined products, and emulsifying immiscible liquids. For example, in the production of gasoline, static mixers are used to blend octane boosters and other additives to achieve the desired fuel characteristics.
- Food and Beverage Industry: Static mixers are used for tasks such as mixing ingredients in liquid food products. In the production of beverages like soft drinks, they are used to blend flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives. In the dairy industry, static mixers can be used to mix milk with additives such as vitamins or stabilizers.
- Water and Wastewater Treatment: In water treatment plants, static mixers are used for processes such as coagulation and flocculation. Chemical coagulants are mixed with water using static mixers to promote the aggregation of suspended particles. In wastewater treatment, they can be used to mix disinfectants or other treatment chemicals with the wastewater.
