Product Description

Static Screen Introduction

Static screen is mainly used for the pretreatment of wastewater treatment, which can effectively

remove most of the suspended solids in the wastewater and reduce the processing load of

subsequent processes, also used for solid-liquid separation and recovery of useful substances in induatrial wastewater treatment. It is an excellent non-powered device for filtering or recovering solid or colloidal substances such as suspended solids, floating matter and sediment.

Design and Structure

  • Curved Screen Design: The defining feature of a static screen is its curved or arc-shaped design. The screen surface is created by wrapping wires around support rods curvedly. This curvature allows the sieve bend to operate with gravity, as the liquid-solid mixture flows over the curved surface.

  • Slot Openings: The static screen is made up of slotted openings. Depending on the specific application and the desired separation or filtration requirements, these openings can vary. The size of the slots determines what size particles can pass through the screen and what is retained.

  Applications

  • Mining: Used to separate ore particles of different sizes, removing fine particles from the slurry to obtain a more concentrated ore product12.

  • Water Treatment: Applied in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants to remove large solids, debris, and some suspended solids from the influent water, reducing the load on subsequent treatment processes such as grit removal, sedimentation, and biological treatment.

  • Food Processing: Can be used to separate solids from liquid food products or food waste slurries, facilitating the recovery of valuable components or the proper disposal of waste.

Static Screen Advantages

  • Cost-Effective: Static screens do not require electricity to operate, and their purchase and installation costs are relatively low, especially considering they help make the rest of the wastewater treatment process more manageable.
  • Low Maintenance: They require very little maintenance. Some are equipped with self-cleaning mechanisms such as water spray or bar rakes that clear the screen's bars as the system moves around with the water's current, reducing the need for manual cleaning and maintenance.
  • Effective Filtration: The mesh screens can capture a wide range of small particles, such as solidified grease, undigested food particles, or bone particles, effectively removing them from the wastewater before further treatment, which eases wear and tear on downstream equipment and speeds up the overall treatment process.
  • Versatile and Adaptable: Static screens come in a variety of sizes and formats, making them easy to fit into existing systems. They can operate effectively under different flow rates, temperatures, and other environmental conditions, without being affected by changes in these factors.

Static Screen Work Process

The main body of the static screen is a stainless steel curved or flat filter screen made of wedge-shaped steel rods. The wastewater to be treated passes through the weir and is evenly distributed to the inclined screen surface. Since the surface of the screen is small and smooth, the back gap is large, the drainage is smooth, it is difficult to block. The solid matter is trapped, and the filtered water flows out from the gap of the sieve plate. At the same time, under the action of hydraulic force, the solid matter is pushed to the lower end of the sieve plate to discharge, thereby achieving the purpose of solid-liquid separation.

Material Introduction and Flow: The material, often a slurry or a mixture of liquid and solid particles, is introduced at the top of the static run-down screen. Due to gravity, the material flows over the curved surface.
• Separation Process: The liquid component of the mixture passes through the slots in the sieve bend, while the solid particles are retained on the screen. The curved profile of the sieve bend assists in dewatering the material. As the liquid passes through the screen, the solids are left behind, forming a cake or layer on the screen surface.
